This is a kit of a passenger car outside swing hanger truck. It came with plastic wheels, but Dick replaced his with NorthWest Short Line 36" metal wheels. "Budd Buddies" was the original brand name under which these were sold, before Des Plaines Hobbies bought the rights to the product line.

Several S-scale modelers, known as the "Budd Buddies", worked with Larry Jackman, owner of S Scale America, to create a line of streamlined Budd passenger cars in S-scale. The project failed, but the trucks were far enough along, that when Des Plaines Hobbies bought SSA, the company released these trucks in kit form. The sideframes have excellent detail, but they came with plastic wheels. Most modelers replaced them with NorthWest ShortLine metal wheels.
