Highway Flasher
Model Introduced:
1949

Notes:
The #760 Flasher was produced from 1949 through 1956 while the #23760 Flasher produced from 1957 through 1960 is essentially identical to #760. The main differences are the boxes they came in, and the type of trips that accompanied the flasher. The #760 came with two #696 Track Trips while the #23760 came with one #696 Track Trip and one #XA16A593 Pike-Master Flasher Trip. The #760 has two variations; the first is identical to the unit in the photo. The second and rarer unit has the wording "RAIL-ROAD/CROS-SING" printed on both side of the cross buck while the #23760 has only one variation.

Accessory
Name:
Highway Flasher
Model Introduced:
1961
Finish:
painted & lettered
Notes:
The #23764 Highway Flasher has only one variation, and was produced from 1961 through 1964. The flasher itself is identical to the 1949-56 #760 and the 1957-60 #23760 Highway Flashers that both came with two #696 Track Trips. 1961 saw the introduction of the new Pike-Master line of track. As a result the #696 Track Trips did not work with the new line of track. Gilbert repackaged the #23760 Highway Flasher with one #696 Track Trip for older track and one #XA16A593 Pike Master Track Trip (see Photo #2 for a close-up; Photo #3 shows it positioned on a section of track) for the new track. The Highway Flasher then received the new catalog number of 23764. Note that the Pike-Master Track Trip #XA16A593 was not sold separately and was only available with the #23764 Highway Flasher and the 1961-64 #23763 Bell Danger Signal.
