An informal group of S-scale modelers, calling themselves "Budd Buddies", worked with S Scale America's founder and owner, Larry Jackman, to create a line of streamlined Budd passenger cars in S-scale. The project failed, but the trucks, the outside swing hanger type, for that project were far enough along that when Des Plaines Hobbies bought SSA, the company released these trucks in kit form. The sideframes have excellent detail, but they came with plastic wheels. Most modelers replace them with NorthWest Short Line metal wheels.
