Templot is an open-source computer-based CAD drawing system that allows for the precise drawing of track components. It has full support for S-scale. The software application provides starter templates which you can customize. It is not a layout track-planning software application, but rather one from which you can create custom templates which you then print on paper and build your track component from (e.g. a custom-radius curved turnout). The product has been under development for quite some time. However, now with the introduction of 3D-printers, the next logic extension was to use the custom design you have created and print the actual track component. The idea here is that you print, for example, the turnout ties complete with the tie plates, and, when printed, you slide in the metal rails to complete the component. If your engines are only battery-powered, you could take it even one step further and print the rail, too! There is a bit of a learning-curve to this tool, but the main web site provides lots of instructions, and there is also a dedicated forum through which you can read discussions and ask questions. Note that the developer of Templot is based in the U.K., so topics are heavily geared toward that. The videos shown here are also very helpful in getting a feel for what this tool can do.
