A Bit of Historical Info

The track came as a kit of slotted, wooden ties and blackened brass rail. Each rail had a tang beneath the base that engaged the slots in the ties for a properly-gauged press fit. The rail is shaped like an inverted cross. To lay out curves, the modeler would press the ties onto one curved rail only, glue the tie-and-one-rail assembly down to the layout, followed by pressing the other rail into the empty slots.
