The S-Helper Service 2-8-0 was based on the B&O E-27 class engine. S-scale modeler and manufacturer Geoffrey Graeber wrote an article in the February 1998 issue of Mainline Modeler documenting this prototype locomotive.

The first run of DCC-enabled engines used the 1-amp Soundtraxx Tsunami decoders, but they would get hot and shut down. In subsequent runs, the company used the QSI sound decoder, which was rated for 1.5amps.
