Early versions of this car used older wheels that were set for the old NMRA gauge. The current production version comes with S-Helper Service hi-rail wheels and couplers (the use of "scale" wheels and couplers would be a modeler's project). The early versions were made out of diecast metal, but the current production is made out of brass for added weight. The car comes with a brass roller and ten roller covers used for the actual cleaning of track.

These cars are no longer being manufactured. Tony's Train Exchange still has some replacement cleaning pads available (click CMX link, above). CMX recommended acetone as the cleaning liquid (hence the need for a brass body to hold the 9ml of liquid). However, acetone can melt plastics, so other solutions, such as the much more gentle (diluted) Simple Green may work as well.
