Notes:

From a 1948 Model Railroader magazine advertisement, this 4-wheel B&O bobber-style transfer caboose kit includes etched copper sides and ends, brass floor, copper roof, diecast end platforms, hardware, and rigid truck frame with wheels. All of that for $6.75! Ed indicates that there is some wood for the running boards and the floor included in the kit. The wheels seem to be of diecast metal mounted on steel axles. The parts are soldered and pinned together with hex head screws at the end sills holding everything to the wood floor. It has S Kadee #808 couplers mounted. It appears to be modeled after a B&O class K-1, a four wheel caboose, for which there had been a plan and construction article in the September 1946 Model Railroader magazine of in 1/4" scale by Mel Thornburgh, "Transfer Caboose". This is about the time Super-Scale was in their prime.

This model was lettered after Jack Sudimak's home road, the Penn Creek & Western. Even though this is a very nice looking model, according to Ed it is missing a few details; grab-irons on the end sills, door knobs, and the caboose stove stack caps needed to be drilled to let the smoke out. And it has no brake parts except one hand wheel.
