The 25061 boxcar was produced in 1961 in only one variation. Although the car was produced in the Pike-Master era of 1961, the car came with sintered-iron trucks and knuckle couplers. If one were to elect to use the car on a Pike-Master layout, one would have to use a section of #26700 track and four #26342 Adapter Pins as shown in Photo #2 in order to utilize the #712 special rail section to activate the action of the car. The car would "explode" when the control button was depressed while the trip lever on the car was making contact with the #712 Special Rail Section. Photo 3 shows the "mouse trap" type of mechanism that is held open by means of a solenoid. Once the button is pressed, the solenoid would become energized causing the spring loaded trip mechanism to slam against the sheet metal frame causing a shock to the car frame that would cause the five pieces of the box car body to fall apart.
