To make a MILW version, Ed added a top-mounted brass brake wheel by Tomalco, a 3D-printed Ratchet wheel and Pawl below on the stamped brass brakeman's step, and a 3D-printed stirrup below that. The couplers used were Kadee S-scale #808. He installed Northeastern's Bettendorf type trucks. The soft metal doors and ends added some needed weight to this model. Other metal parts are the brass sill steps pinned on, the brass stamped ladders, and the formed wire grab irons. The finished wood model was coated with Scalecoat's Sanding sealer, followed by 2002 Oxide Red paint. Old Enhoring Decals SN 54 and SD 2 were used. Restored with Microscale's Decal Film. Complete brakes were put on with little instructions using the cast metal AB parts furnished.

The remaining photos of Ed's model show the model before painting, so that it is clear which parts are wood and which are metal.
