John W. Barriger III, when he ran the Monon, remembered from his early years as a yard clerk that it was easy to write down the wrong road number for cars with 6-digit road numbers. So, when the Monon ordered 500 40-foot box cars from Pullman-Standard in 1947, he simply had them start with #1.

This was a special run done as the 2025 NASG's Annual Member Car program. This version has the Superior doors. This was American Models' first use of these types of doors.

Some prototype cars of this paint scheme had black roofs and ends, so he painted both the roof and the car's end black. Brooks also added wire grabs to the sides, ends, and roof using 0.020" brass wire. He painted the corner stirrup steps red. Using K4 Decals' decals he changed the road number, and put the road number high on the ends per prototype practice. An extra "Return To..." panel of text from the K4 decal sheet was added to the right of the doors. And, finally, he touched-up the white paint on the top of the ladders where they are in the white banner.
