Notes:

These models were produced in 1963 through 1965 and uncataloged in 1966. The reefer/box car has one variation of the box car, two variations of the unpainted reefer, and three variations of the painted reefer. According to Gilbert's numbering system the box car version should never have been produced with the #24422 number printed on the car. The #244xx series cars were reserved for reefers while the #240xx series was reserved for box cars. Because Gilbert sales and profits were in decline, it is fair to say Gilbert abandoned their own numbering system at least for this series of GN cars. In the photo are four variations of the six that are documented by Greenberg. In the front (left-to-right) is an unpainted reefer with fixed doors, and an unpainted #24422 box car. In the rear row is a painted reefer with fixed doors, and a painted reefer with operating doors. Note the color of the top-right unit is much different from the other three.
