Notes:
This was Bill's previous layout when he owned the Palmdale Hobby Shop. The layout lasted for 17 years, but was never finished. Some track work was salvaged for his current layout.
Most of the Coal Creek narrow-gauge area of the layout was salvaged, improved upon, and re-used in Bill's current layout.
The 2-6-6-6 sits on a 51"-radius main line. This photo was taken at the door, the room's entrance. The facia in the foreground mimicked the swing of the door.
The engine servicing facility was never finished, but it was fully operational. There are were storage tracks hidden under the narrow-gauge line in the back, as well as under the wye shown in the next photo.
This photo was taken from inside the layout, opposite of the second photo above. The interior of the layout was accessed via a 4-foot crawl-under, and could accommodate two people; a third could stand at the door. While tight, this does show that one can model an S-scale layout in a standard spare bedroom.
The "track plan". It is actually the back wall of the big factory building.
