Sold as a set of 10 less-than-carload containers based on the PRR HB4 (weatherproof, bulk dry goods) design. S-scale decals were manufactured by Mount Vernon Shops, and were available for these road names: PRR, NYC, DL&W, RDG, ERIE, and B&O. Containers were sold painted a freight-car red. The PRR containers shown in the photo (inside of a S Scale America PRR G24 gondola) were painted with Floquil's Oxide Red, and the B&O containers were painted with Poly Scale's Steam Power Black. Most railroads painted these black. The hooks on the top corners on the model are very delicate and can easily break off. Other than, optionally, painting them, and applying decals, these are ready-to-go. Photo #2 shows Ed's B&O class O-27BA, which is a Lionel A.F. 50' gondola car converted to carry 12 bulk containers of Dolomite for steel making in an Open Hearth furnace.

Resin containers painted black or red. They had round lifting rings. Decals were furnished lettered for SOO Line Container Service only. Note that not enough decals were supplied to apply them to both sides of the containers. At the time Roy also offered an American Models SOO 52' gondola for the 12-pack of containers. Gondolas need to have steel spacers put on the floors to separate these and keep them from moving during transit. Ed is in the process of removing the cast on handles from the top loading hatches to be replaced by brass wire ones. Also note that the decals are not in their correct position; they should be up on the corrugations of the containers.
