The Deep Rock tank car was produced in 1959, with three variations. All of the variations have black plastic bodies. In the front row is the first variation with solid non-operating knuckle couplers shiny handrails, and without ladders, brakes wheel, and diamond markers. The finish on this unit is flat black whereas the finish on the other is glossy. In the second row is the second variation that has black handrails, shinny ladders, and operating knuckle couplers. The third variation in the rear also has operating knuckle couplers, however it does not have handrails, ladders, brake wheels, nor markers.

The 1959 Gulf tank cars all came with knuckle couplers. The two differences in these cars is that the more common unit has a solid, non-operating knuckle couplers and a Type II plastic frame like the ones used on the #24309 and #24310. The more uncommon model has a Type III plastic split tank frame where part of the frame makes up part of the tank bottom, as the tank itself is open on the bottom.

This model was offered in 1959-60, in only one variation. It features a Type II plastic frame, Type 11 trucks with knuckle couplers. The tank body is unpainted orange plastic with a black painted center band. Gilbert used a paper sticker of the Hooker logo on the #24324. The #24324 as illustrated in the 1959-60 catalogs does not have the black center band.
