This is the knuckle coupler version of #715. It was produced from 1953 through 1957. Most had a black and red body with a yellow ramp. The one pictured with the grey body with a maroon ramp is the less common one. The top surface of the body has painted "American Flyer Lines" on one end and "915" on the other end. The car usually came with a plastic sports car, or (as pictured) a gas tank truck, but, as with the 715, other loads are also known to exist.

This floodlight car was made in 1953 and 1954 and has die-cast metal chassis that is either gray or blue-gray with black lettering. The number 934 imprinted on the black floodlight base in the indented area.

The #946 was produced from 1953 through 1956, in six variations. Two of the variations have green motor generators (one is green plastic while the second has a green painted generator). The next three variations all have red painted motor generators. One has chrome-finished lamp housing while the other two have a silver finished light housing. Of these two, one is stamped "NEW 5-29" while the second is stamped "NEW 5-28". The fifth variation has a red plastic motor generator with a silver finished lamp housing, as shown in the photo.
