According to most reference guides the #639 was produced in 1951 and 1952, with five variations consisting of three colors. In 1951, the #639 was produced in yellow with no brake wheel and type 2 trucks. One variation has a yellow plastic body while the other two 1951 variations were painted yellow, one over a white or cream body, and the other over a black plastic body. The two remaining variations were produced in 1952, one of which has a yellow plastic body but it has type 3 trucks and a one-piece brake wheel. The second 1952 #639, as shown in the photo, has a cream plastic body with type 2 trucks.
