Back in the early 1990s, Jim Kindraka wrote an article in the NASG's Dispatch about what to do with typical brass model problems. He mentioned that some of the Overland models used a piece of flexible tubing to connect the motor to the gear tower instead of a universal joint. His recommendation is that, should the tubing fail or deteriorate, replace it with R/C model airplane fuel line tubing. The walls on this tubing is thicker than the original tubing used in the locomotive and will lead to better performance in the model.
